Architect
Under the banner Sponberg Yacht Design, 38-year veteran naval architect Eric W. Sponberg provides original power and sail yacht designs to individuals and corporations. For Cherubini Yachts he created the Cherubini Classic 20 speedboat design.
A graduate of the University of Michigan with a BSE degree in naval architecture Eric’s design work ranged from commercial tankers to advanced technology power and sail boats. At Tillotson-Pearson, builders of J-Boats, Freedom Yachts and Alden Yachts he served as Chief Engineer. He helped develop the free-standing carbon-fiber masts used on Freedom Yachts. Articles by Eric often appear in technical journals as well as the general yachting press.
Eric is a life member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and a licensed Professional Engineer in the United States. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and a licensed Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom.
